HISTORY
We aim to deliver a history curriculum that is accessible to all and that will maximise the outcomes for every child so that they know more, remember more and understand more. We want children to be curious about the past and to have the skills required to explore their own interests. We will enable them to be the best historians they can be by developing historical knowledge and skills not only through experiences in the classroom but also through historical visits, visitors and events. By imparting knowledge and developing skills, we will enable children to ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments and develop perspective and judgment. Therefore importantly allowing children to develop a sense of identity through learning about the past and understanding how history has shaped their own lives.
GEOGRAPHY
We aim for a high quality, inclusive geography curriculum which inspires in pupils a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people. Geographical knowledge and skills will utilise maps, globes and aerial photographs. We want children to enjoy and love learning about geography not just through experiences in the classroom, but also with the use of fieldwork taking advantage of the local surroundings as well as further afield. By imparting knowledge and developing skills, we will enable pupils to become the best geographers they can be, encouraging them to explore the world around them and ultimately providing pupils with the potential to make a real difference as they move forward with their lives.
