This morning Rec/Y1 led our Candlemas service. They told us about Candlemas and how Jesus was the light of the world. They told us how they let their light shine like Jesus. Each class got a candle so we can have Jesus’ light in our classrooms. Lexi said she enjoyed all of it. Leo enjoyed the prayers that were read out. We all thought Rec/Y1 did a fabulous job.
Pancake Day falls in half term this year and we really didn’t want to miss out so …. Gomersal St Mary’s have decided to have an early Pancake Day! Children will have the opportunity to purchase a pancake with a choice of delicious topping on Friday 9th February during playtime. This is at a cost of 50p cash which will need to be brought in on the day!
With Mother’s Day just around the corner would you like to buy a loved one a gift?
If so we have the perfect thing for you. Children in gardening club have been busy planting a variety of bulbs in lovely pots ready for your loved ones! The children will bring this home in a personalised bag which they have decorated. Live on parent pay until the 26th February at £3.50!
We will be running our parents evenings on Monday 11th March at 3.30pm until 5.30pm, and then Wednesday 13th March from 3.30pm until 6.30pm. The parents evening for Nursery pupils will take place on Tuesday 19th March from 3.10pm until 5.30pm. Further information on how to make a booking will follow in future newsletters.
Concerns about measles
If you are worried about your child having the measles vaccination, or about the symptoms of measles, please click on the link below:
Please can I remind you that all children need to wear their PE uniform on PE days. Also it would be really useful if children did not wear earrings on these days as they have to be removed for the lesson. Thank you for your support in these matters.
Please can you keep an eye out on Parent Pay for any trips your child is going to be involved in. It is essential that we receive contributions so that the trip can go ahead. Please make every endeavour to pay any contributions on time. Failure to do so will mean trips are cancelled and children miss out on wonderful opportunities.
Year 4 children Bolton Abbey
The year 4 children are going to Bolton Abbey on Tuesday 5 March 2024. Cost of the trip is £21.00. Three instalments have been set up: £7.00 by 31/10/23, the next £7.00 by 30/11/23 and final instalment by 31/01/24. Again see original letter for more information.
Outdoor kit donation
If you have any size 12 wellies or waterproofs that could be donated to school we would really appreciate it. These would support our children who are gardening in the poorer weather.
Please look at your Parent Pay account and clear any outstanding payments. If there are any debts you run the risk of not being able to access school lunches, breakfast club and tea time club.
We are heading into the time of year when there can be lots of bugs around. This list helps families know which illnesses and conditions require pupils to stay at home and when they can come to school. However if you have any questions please contact school.
All welcome to our informal Coffee /Tea mornings (drink and natter). These are held every Tuesday after dropping your children off at school. Under school age children welcome too as there are lots of toys for them to play with.
Please join us in the Children’s Centre with Mrs Boyle suppling the drinks and biscuits.
New phone number?
If you have a new phone number, or if there is a change in contact details, please contact school to update us.
