Dear Parents/carers

Harvest Festival:

Well done to Miss Byram’s class who delivered a lovely Harvest Festival on Wednesday. They worked really hard to put together a performance of The Little Red Hen. Thank you to all family members who were able to attend. It was lovely to be able to share this service with you.

Tea Time Club:

Thursday 26th October – Boo

Come along & join us for a Spooktacular Movie Night.

We will provide food, drinks and even some treats.

Spaces are limited, so we advise you to book fast.

We are looking forward to seeing you there….if you dare!

To reserve your child’s place, please ring or email the school office.

Thank you.

Mrs Wharton and Miss Hacking

Christmas designs:

You should have received your child’s Christmas design this week. All products should be ordered online (instructions on the design card) and the orders will be delivered to school. We will then hand them out when they arrive.

School Photographs:

Please note that in order to get free delivery back to school, your orders must in to Tempest by Tuesday 31st October.

Ice creams!

You might think it is strange to sell ice creams in October, but then again why not? If you would like your child to have an ice cream please pay £1 on ParentPay by Monday 23rd October. These will be given to the children during the day on Thursday 26th October.

There will be a collection of books out under the canopy next week for you to choose from. If you would like to take any we just ask for a donation.

Children In Need:

Children In Need is to be held on Friday 17th November. This will be a non-uniform day in school with the option to wear Pudsey Bear clothing if you wish. If you would rather just wear normal non-uniform that is fine. Please make a donation to Children In Need on the day.

Reception and KS1 Reading Meeting

We would like to invite parents of children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 to come and find out more about reading with your child and the importance of story time. Refreshments will be provided. This will take place on the 7th November straight after school. There will be childcare available and the meeting will last approximately 20 minutes. Please make every effort to attend.

Harvest Foodbank:

A huge thank you for all your support with our non-uniform today. We received a fantastic amount of food for the foodbank which will be handed over on Monday.

Year 6 High School applications:

Year 6 pupils need to apply for their High Schools by the 31st October. Please note this is in the half term holiday. You will have already received information about open evenings at the local schools. Please make sure you apply for more than one school as if you do not receive your first choice, you will could be placed at any other local school where there are places available.

Drilling survey:

Drilling surveys will occur on our school land between the 23rd of October and the 17th of November. These surveys are necessary because our school is now part of a Department for Education school rebuilding programme. The school was built in a mining area, so feasibility studies must occur. This will involve drilling down on several different points around the school field. When the teams are on site, drilling will be between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. This will create some noise at points during the day, so we have been asked to share this with our families. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Christmas Jumpers:

We will be collecting Christmas jumpers this term for a swap next half term. If your child has grown out of their Christmas jumper please save it for us to pass onto another pupil. You may also be able to pick up a replacement at the Christmas jumper exchange in November.

Please can we ask all families to be very vigilant at checking their children’s hair for headlice. We have had a number of cases in school and this can only be stopped if the headlice are properly treated. Please follow this link for advice.

Packed Lunches and fruit:

Please can I remind families that pupils should not have fizzy drinks, sweets or chocolate bars in their packed lunches.

Children in Reception, Year 1 and 2 receive a piece of fruit each day as part of a Government initiative. This stops when they reach Year 3 so we encourage children in Years 3 to 6 to bring their own piece of fresh fruit to school for a playtime snack. Thank you for your support.

We are heading into the time of year when there can be lots of bugs around. This list helps families know which illnesses and conditions require pupils to stay at home and when they can come to school. However if you have any questions please contact school.

Coffee Morning:

All welcome to our informal Coffee /Tea mornings (drink and natter). These are held every Tuesday after dropping your children off at School. Under school age children welcome too as there are lots of toys for them to play with.

Please join us in the Children’s Centre with Mrs Boyle suppling the drinks and biscuits.

New phone number?

If you have a new phone number, or if there is a change in contact details, please contact school to update us.
