Year 4 Multiplication Test
The multiplication tables check (MTC) is statutory for all year 4 pupils registered at state-funded maintained schools, in England. The purpose of the MTC is to determine whether pupils can recall their times tables fluently, which is essential for future success in mathematics. Our children will be taking the test on Wednesday 14th June so you could support this by testing your child either verbally or giving them access to online times tables games such as Times Tables Rockstars.
Phonics Screening Test
This test is completed by Year 1 on Wednesday 14th June. I have attached a leaflet along with this letter to give Year 1 families more information about this test.
Our School Facebook Page
We are excited to announce the launch of our school’s official Facebook page! As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance communication and foster a strong sense of community, we have created this page to provide you with a convenient platform for updates, important announcements, and engaging content.
On our school’s Facebook page, we will be sharing our regular newsletter, sharing inspiring work and, celebrating the achievements of our pupils.
The safety and privacy of our students is vitally important. As such, we will continue to stick to the guidelines and security measures we have always used to ensure a safe online environment for everyone involved.
- Any photos of pupils will not be named individually and we encourage parents to make sure that pupils are not identifiable in any comments made.
- We want the page to remain a responsible and respectful use of social media, and as such, we also encourage all users to carefully consider any comments they write.
We would love you to visit our school’s Facebook page and hit the “Like” button to stay connected and receive updates in your news feed. We look forward to your active participation and engagement, as your involvement plays a vital role in creating a supportive and enriching educational experience for your child.
Thank you for your continued support, and we are excited to embark on this digital journey together!
Our Sports Day is on Thursday 15th June. All children should come to school in their PE uniform. This is a white t-shirt and dark shorts/joggers. Please make sure that your child has the correct clothing as well as a full water bottle. If it is a warm day a hat will also be a good idea. The event will take place in the afternoon from 1.30pm. Snacks will be available to buy including hot dogs, sweets and drinks. Children will be able to have these after sports day has finished.
For those pupils going to Robinwood the next payment of £40 is due by the 25th June.
For those pupils going to London the next payment of £60 is due by the 30th June.
Please make sure these payments are made in time as they are linked to our payment deadlines with the companies organising the trips. Thank you.

We are asking for your help and support, recently we have attended several incidents where children & young people have tragically died in open water. The warmer weather unfortunately results in more people using open water and that’s why we need your help.
We are working in partnership with Kirklees Council, Yorkshire Water, RNLI, RLSS, and The Canals and River Trust to improve safety and awareness about the risk of open water. Swimming in open water can be dangerous – we want everyone to enjoy the outdoors but be cautious and understand the risks of open water.
Enjoy the warmer weather safely #BeWaterAware

Can you help?
We are after magazines, brochures, catalogues or leaflets that we can use to cut up for group activities. If you have any lying around, please drop them off with staff at the gate.
It is essential that you make every effort to clear your Parent Pay accounts for Breakfast Club, Tea Time Club, Nursery and lunches. From September payments for Tea Time Club and Breakfast Club must be made prior to your child staying. Therefore, all accounts need to be settled before the end of the summer holidays. If you have questions regarding this, please speak to school.
Thank you to everyone who has donated uniform for the Uniform Bank – we will be running another one shortly offering all school uniform free of charge. If anyone can donate clean uniform in a good condition, we would be very grateful. We particularly need girl’s cardigans, all sizes, but especially EY’s and KS1, boy’s jumpers for KS1 and girl’s summer dresses.
Don’t forget that we also recycle batteries at school. These can be handed into the office or Year 5.

Tax Free Childcare
Gomersal St.Mary’s is now registered to accept Tax Free Childcare Vouchers to help pay for Breakfast Club and Tea Time Club.
Tax Free Childcare is a Government Scheme that pays 20% of childcare costs up to a maximum of £2000 per year. The scheme is open to all parents of children under the age of 12.
To be eligible for the Tax Free Childcare Scheme, you must be working and if you have a partner they must work too, and you must not be receiving any support through Tax Credits or Universal Credit.
Please can I remind you that children must wear the correct PE uniform for these lessons. The uniform is a plain white t-shirt and then shorts/tracksuit bottoms/sweatshirts/hoodies must be a plain dark colour.
If you have any PE white t-shirts that your child no longer needs, please give them to school so that we can pass them on.
There has been a request from Batley Food Bank for carrier bags. As you can imagine it is very easy to run out of bags and when times are hard the pressure on the food bank is even greater. If you do have any bags please drop them off at school and we will pass them on.
