Dear Parents/carers,

Easter Holiday Breakfast Club with Morrisons

This Easter Kellogg’s has partnered with Morrisons to launch a breakfast club where the whole family can request a free bowl of cereal.

Both adults and children can choose from a bowl of Cornflakes, Rice Krispies or Coco Pops, with a choice of dairy and non-dairy milk, when they order a ‘Kellogg’s breakfast’ before 11am, in any of Morrisons 397 cafés.

The joint initiative will run from 3rd to 24th April, while stock lasts, and aims to support families during the Easter holidays when many school breakfast clubs are unavailable.

St Mary’s Easter activities

I have attached a poster advertising the Easter activity morning at St Mary’s Church which is running on Saturday 8th April, 10am – 12noon. Entry and activities are all free so come along and join the fun.

Our Easter Bunny visit

Yesterday the Easter bunny came to visit school.

Robyn in Year 4 said it was the best experience she has ever had to do with Easter.

Leo in Year 1 was excited as it was the first time he had ever met the real Easter bunny.

Amber in Year 5 said that meeting the bunny was super exciting! She liked it best when he danced along to the music.

We all had a great time! Look at the photographs on our school website.

Easter Service

Thank you to everyone who attended our Easter Service yesterday. The service was led by Year 4 and not surprisingly there were many positive comments from families and Church members. Thank you Year 4.

Easter competition

Thank you to everyone who brought in an entry for our Easter competition. There were some amazing entries and it was so hard to pick the winners. Thank you to Brenda for helping with the judging. The standard was so high that we had to give everyone a prize for entering.

Easter egg raffle

We had our Easter egg raffle today. All of our children were given a ticket free of charge and then we pulled out a name for each egg.

Year 4 Walk for Water

Year 4 have now completed their sponsored Walk For Water as part of their WE Schools Project. We have been learning about those people in the world who don’t have access to clean, fresh water and are fundraising to donate to WaterAid to help these people out. We have walked for 15 minutes every school day in March to help understand how it must feel to make this essential walk each day. £15 is enough to change one person’s life with clean water.

Over 275 minutes of walking, we have completed 30.51km each (just under 19 miles), around the same as if we were to walk to Robinwood in Todmorden, Harrogate or Bolton Abbey from school.

Please consider supporting us by making a donation at the office.

ParentPay accounts

Please make every effort to clear your Parent Pay accounts for Breakfast Club, Tea Time Club, Nursery and lunches over the Easter holidays. It is essential that you keep below the £30 maximum debt. If you’re struggling to meet your payments then please speak to school.

Old uniform and towel request

We are really short of bigger sizes in jumpers and cardigans. If you have any that your children have grown out of we would really appreciate it if you could donate them to school. We could also do with some towels to have as spares for children who go swimming.

GIVE EVERY HEAD A BED

Zarach is a charity committed to helping children and families who are living in crisis.  They can deliver beds and basics.  https://zarach.org/

Internet Safety

We all want children to be able to enjoy exploring the internet safely. Parental controls and safety settings can help parents with this by giving them the ability to put limits on what their child can do and see when they’re on screens. Vodafone have developed Digital Parenting Pro, one of the UK’s largest parental controls and safety settings resources, which helps parents discover what settings are available across some of the most popular apps, games and devices. And their Parental controls & safety settings checklist gives parents 5 key questions to ask themselves before using these features.

Breakfast Club:

Don’t forget that Breakfast Club is now open from 7.30am.

Coffee Morning:

All welcome to our informal Coffee /Tea mornings (drink and natter). These are held every Tuesday after dropping your children off at School (8.45 till 10.00am). Under school age children welcome too as there are lots of toys for them to play with. Please join us in the Children’s Centre with Mrs Boyle supplying the drinks and biscuits.

Here are the training days for the next school year:

Thursday 4th May 2023
Monday 24th July 2023
Tuesday 25th July 2023

Don’t forget the extra Bank Holiday for the King’s coronation on Monday 8th May.

Have a lovely Easter and we will see you back at school on Monday 17th April.

Yours sincerely, Miss J. Barker
