Please note that classroom doors will close at 8.45am. School actually starts at 8.40am so it is essential that you are in for this time. However if there is a valid reason for being a few minutes late you will still be able to access the classroom directly up until 8.45am. After this you will need to come in through the main entrance, signing pupils in as late from 8.50am.
Can I also request that if your child is not in school you let us know the reason why as soon as possible. This will save the school office from spending time trying to contact yourself, other registered contacts, or from staff visiting your home. This can be done by phoning us or sending an email. For safeguarding reasons we need to know why your child is not in school.
I have noticed that some families are accessing the Nursery by crossing the early years playground and going up the side of the Nursery building. I must warn you that we have a sink hole on this path which is why we don’t use it on a regular basis. You are therefore at risk of injury if you use this path. It is therefore preferable that you use the path from the outside of school to access Nursery entrance.
Our Candlemas Service will be held in St Mary’s Church on the 2nd February. Year 1 will be leading the service so family and friends of pupils in Year 1 are welcome to attend. I will be in touch nearer the time with the exact start time, but we expect it to be in the morning. We hope you will be able to join us.
Swimming in Year 4
Pupils in year 4 will have now received a letter outlining the guidance for swimming which will start straight after February half term. Please read this carefully as there are strict rules on things such as swimming costumes and goggles.
Free Support for Parents from Northorpe Hall
We now have some new weekly ‘Toast n Talk’ sessions for parents and carers. In addition to the Chill N Chat sessions, we are offering additional sessions during the winter months, where we are offering a warm space called Toast N Talk. These will be held every Tuesday morning from 9-12pm at the Pack Horse Centre in Huddersfield Thursday afternoon from 12-3pm in the Barn at Northorpe Hall starting 12th January until the end of March. These can be booked onto through our website but anyone is welcome to just drop in. It is an opportunity to chat through concerns with refreshments and themed talks each week in a warm safe space.
Don’t forget our tea-time club is open to help you with childcare needs. It is open from 3pm to 6pm. There are 2 prices for tea-time club: up until 5pm it is £7.50 whereas after this it is £10. Children will get a light tea and drinks during this time. Please book your child in with the school office to avoid disappointment.
Don’t forget that Breakfast Club is now open from 7.30am. We have increased the cost to £4.00, but we still feel this is excellent value for money.
All are welcome to our informal Coffee /Tea mornings (drink and natter). These are held every Tuesday after dropping your children off at School (8.45 till 10.00am). Under school age children welcome too as there are lots of toys for them to play with. Please join us in the Children’s Centre with Mrs Boyle supplying the drinks and biscuits.
