Dear Parents/carers,

Mrs Powles:

Mrs Powles has decided to retire from running Breakfast Club from after the holidays. We want to thank her for all her years of running Breakfast Club; it has really helped our families out. We will still see Mrs Powles at lunchtimes though. Mrs Wharton will be taking over after the holiday.

All Souls:

Looking ahead – November is a season of remembering and following half term and we will be having our annual Remembrance Service in Church. We will also be remembering soldiers who gave their lives in Gomersal by name.  Each of the classes will place red ribbons on a remembrance tree under the canopy near the school entrance, each one bearing a soldier’s name during a time of reflection.

We will also be invited to remember our loved ones (family and friends) who have died.  Children, parents and carers are invited to write names and memories of a loved one.  These can be placed on an empty chair (reflection space) in the gazebo in the school playground. It is a reminder that when someone dies, they leave a gap in our lives.  This activity offers a simple, safe place for our school community to consider and express a bit of how they feel about someone who they have loved and lost – the empty chair represents the person we have lost. It encourages us to reflect on the good memories, but it also allows for, and affirms, the sad ones too. It’s OK to not be OK.

Please make sure that younger children do not climb over the prayer space in the gazebo or draw on the Big Question board at pick-up and drop-off times.

SMASH:

After a break due to COVID SMASH are keen to start up again and fundraise for our school. Their first meeting is at The Wickham Arms on Monday 8th November at 7.30pm. It would be lovely to see some new members so please come along and see how you can support our school. Please remember that you do not have to commit a huge amount of time if you help out.

Family Questionnaire:

We are very interested in getting your thoughts regarding the ways school supported our families during COVID. We would really appreciate it if you could complete our questionnaire. This can be accessed via this link: https://forms.gle/tzQPUbF6iitPzQu58

Robinwood:

If your child is attending Robinwood in November you should have received an email with 4 attachments. These provide key information about the trip. If you have not received this email please contact school.

ParentPay:

Please make sure that you keep on top of your ParentPay account. We are concerned that some families end up owing quite a bit which can be difficult to manage. If you have any questions regarding this please contact the school office.

Colder weather:

As the weather is turning colder please can you make sure your child brings a coat to school. We have had a number of children just in t-shirts even though it is very chilly. If you have any spare coats that are no longer required that would fit older children, we would welcome any donations.
