Dear parents/carers,

Parents phone calls:

Thank you very much to everyone who made an appointment to speak to their child’s class teacher. It has been a very different way of doing this, but I hope you found it useful and informative.

Year 2 phonics test:

On Thursday 3rd December Year 2 will do the phonics test that they missed in Year 1. This involves reading 20 real words and 20 nonsense words. This is a Government test and the results will be submitted to Kirklees.

Raffle:

Even though we are unable to have a Christmas fair we will still be holding our Christmas raffle with the fantastic first prize of the hamper.

As you can imagine it is difficult to give out and receive raffle tickets and money so we are going to put the opportunity to buy tickets on ParentPay. Each ticket will cost £1 and you will be able to buy up to 5 tickets per child. However you do not have to buy any tickets if you choose.

The deadline for buying tickets will be Wednesday 9th December. We will then write all the names on the tickets and make the draw in our virtual celebration worship on Friday 11th December. The winning ticket holders will then be contacted by school.

Non uniform:

Remember there is a non-uniform Christmas themed day on Tuesday. A donation of £1 is requested which will go to SMASH.

Thank you to everyone who purchased something from the stall on Thursday. SMASH made £90 and just wish they had more to sell. Sorry to anyone who didn’t manage to buy anything.

Water bottles:

Please remember that children are only allowed to bring in water in their water bottles. If your child has a packed lunch they are allowed to bring in a carton/small bottle of water or fresh juice.

Packed lunches:

Please can I remind parents/carers that we are a nut free school so items containing things like Nutella must not be included in lunch boxes.

Staff presents:

I have been asked by families about bringing in Christmas presents for staff. If you would like to bring in a present then please bring it in on the 11th December. This is the same deadline for handing in Christmas cards. They can then be quarantined over the weekend and staff can open them on the Monday.

Christmas parties:

We will still be able to have parties this year, but we will not be asking families to bring in any food. However children can come in non-uniform on their party day if they wish. The parties will take place in the afternoon. Please remember that they will be wearing this all day though so their best party outfits may not be the best choice.

  • Early years: Wednesday 16th December
  • Years 1 and 2: Wednesday 16th December
  • Years 3 and 4: Thursday 17th December
  • Years 5 and 6: Friday 18th December (am)

School Christmas Dinner:

Our Christmas dinner is going to be held on Wednesday 9th December. The menu is:

  • Turkey, seasoning, chipolata and gravy
  • Roast potatoes
  • Creamed potatoes
  • Roasted parsnips
  • Carrots, peas and sprouts
  • A selection of hot and cold desserts

If your child usually has a packed lunch, and would like a Christmas dinner, it must be booked by Wednesday 2nd December. Just let Mrs Earnshaw know at the gate or by phone or email.

Yours sincerely, Miss J. Barker
