Dear Parents/carers
Remote learning:
There was another letter sent out today about how our school will offer remote learning should a bubble, or our school close. This centres around access to the internet and so if paper copies are needed please ask. This letter is attached below.
If you have issues with the number of devices at home, or access to the internet, please complete the form at the bottom of this post. Kirklees are trying to support families with these issues so it is useful to know how many are affected.
Non-uniform day:
Next Friday, 23rd October, we are having a non-uniform day to promote Times Tables Rockstars. This program is fantastic at helping children to learn their times tables which is crucial for so many aspects of Mathematics. We are asking children to come dressed as their favourite rockstar on the day. This is just a bit of fun so please don’t think you need to spend money on a special outfit. Homemade ones are always the best!
Walk for Water:
Next week year 4 will be completing daily laps of our playground to raise money for their WE Schools project. Good luck Year 4. I hope the sun shines for you.
Photographs:
If you would like to buy your child’s photograph please make sure you have the order in by the first Tuesday back after half term (3rd November).
Yours sincerely, Miss J. Barker
HOME LEARNING PLANS – PLEASE KEEP THIS LETTER IN CASE OF BUBBLE CLOSURES
To ensure that your child is able to continue to learn from home in the event of individual isolation, or as a result of us having to close a whole bubble, we would like to share our home learning plans with you in advance. We have not had any closures yet, but it’s important that we are all prepared for any eventuality.
Individual pupils who are self-isolating
If your child is absent because they are awaiting test results, or your household is required to self-isolate and the rest of their school bubble are attending school and being taught as normal, please contact the school office and let us know. You will then be told how to access work for your child during their isolation.
Whole bubble closure
In the event of the closure of one of our bubbles, or a group of pupils within a bubble, the following will take place:
Your child will be provided with daily, online learning (through Purple Mash / Google Classrooms/ Microsoft Sway).
- If your child is in EYFS, Year 1, Year 2 we will be uploading the following learning activities per day: Phonics, Reading, English, Maths and an additional activity linked to another curriculum area.
- If your child is in Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 or Year 6, we will be uploading the following learning activities per day: English, Reading, Maths and an additional activity linked to another curriculum area.
Here is a suggested timetable for children in the event of a bubble closure. However, it is just a suggestion and can be adapted to reflect your child’s needs and your circumstances. Please note that the activities for EYFS pupils are not suggested to last more than 30 minutes to ensure that your child has an adequate balance between structured learning and play-based learning.

In addition to the lessons above, teachers may schedule a virtual ‘feedback and catch up’ session using Google Meet each week- this will be subject to need. You and your child will be notified about the session and given the relevant information needed to join the meeting through text message sent by the school. |
In the event of a class teacher being unwell, another teacher will post learning for the class to ensure that no learning time is lost.
It is really important that your child continues to learn during this pandemic, and your support with these bubble closure plans is greatly appreciated. If your child does not have access to a computer or an electronic device that they can work on, please let us know by contacting the school office via email or telephone as soon as possible after the bubble closure is announced and we will find an alternate method of providing work.
It is expected that all children subject to bubble closure will complete the work they have been set by their teachers unless they are unwell. This will ensure that teaching can move as seamlessly as possible between remote learning and in-school learning with the least loss of learning time. If your child is unwell at any time within the bubble closure, and therefore unable to complete the work set, you should notify school by telephoning the school office.
We are of course hopeful there will be limited need for this, but it’s important that we are all prepared for any such event.
If you have any questions about these plans, please contact the school office via email or telephone.
