First of all can I say a huge thank you to everyone who supported our sports day this week. We had a lovely afternoon and I was so proud of the effort and sportsmanship shown by the children. Many thanks also to all the staff who organised, supported and helped make the event such a great success.
On Monday our Year 6 pupils will be performing their end of year production. There will be two performances: one at 2pm and one at 6pm. You should have received an allocation of 2 tickets for each performance. Please bring these with you on the day. Unfortunately there will be no additional tickets available.
We also have our Leavers’ Service on Thursday 20th July at 10.15am. This will take place at St Mary’s Church and families of our Year 6 children are welcome to join us.
Can I also remind you that SMASH are holding their ‘Schools Out’ disco on Tuesday 18th July. Tickets are available from the school office and further details can be found on the noticeboard outside. Children who are attending the first disco can bring their clothes to change into.
Can I remind parents of children in Year 2 that there will no longer be a free school meal available once their child moves to Year 3. Therefore if you think you would be entitled to claim for free school meals can you please Google ‘Kirklees free school meals’ where the forms will be available for you to complete (this link takes you to the Kirklees free school meal page). If you need any further advice please speak to Mrs Earnshaw. There will also be a slight increase in the cost of a school meal from September. The new price will be £2.12 per day.
As we move towards the end of the year can we ask that your child brings an additional bag to school (a carrier bag would be ideal) so they can start bringing bits and pieces home.
The hot weather also means that we have a number of jumpers and cardigans that are being removed and then lost. We can’t return them to their rightful owners unless there is a name in them. Please double check that your child’s clothes have their name clearly labelled inside.
Finally, I am sad to say we are saying goodbye to Mrs Whelpton this summer. We would like to thank her for all her hard work and commitment this year. We wish her all the very best for the future.
Yours sincerely, Miss J. Barker
