Dear parents /carers,
Thank you to everyone who attended parents evening this week. I hope you found our new online system easy to use. If you didn’t manage to make an appointment, please contact school to arrange a time. As I’m sure you know, it is essential we meet with you to discuss your child’s progress, as working together improves your child’s chances of success.
After a very successful Macmillan coffee morning we were able to donate £228 to this fantastic charity. Thank you very much for all your kind donations.
As you may have noticed we now have a clothing bin in the playground. This has been organised by SMASH and will raise funds for Cancer Support Yorkshire and school. Please have a clear out and help us fill the bin. Please note that this will replace the bags for schools that SMASH used to give out.
We are now up and running with Bug Club. This is an online site which improves reading and comprehension skills through the use of ebooks. If your child is in Year 1 or older please come along to our information evening on Monday 17th October at 6pm to find out more about this wonderful interactive resource and learn how you can support your child’s development in reading.
On Monday 17th October we are also running information sessions for families on Read Write Inc in Nursery and Reception. These will take place straight after school in the classroom. Please come along and find out about how your child learns the early stages of reading and writing in school. Staff will be available to look after children while the sessions are happening.
Can we please remind all families that it is essential that every piece of clothing is labelled with your child’s name. We now also have green coats for sale from SportsFX priced £14.00. You may have seen the staff wearing them. They are reversible with a fleece on one side and a showerproof layer on the other. If you would like to see what the coat is like please ask at the school office.
A reminder from Mrs Earnshaw that all year 6 applications for High School need to be in by the 31st October.
Please remember that school is closed on Thursday 20th October as it is going to be used as a polling station.
If you have any questions, please contact school.
Yours sincerely, Miss J. Barker
