I would just like to highlight for you a few of the events that are coming up in the near future:
Our Gardening Party is taking place on Saturday 8th October, 10am – 12 noon. This was a great success last year with many of our families coming along to help tidy up our grounds. We made a real difference then and I’m sure we will again this year. A free BBQ will be running to provide refreshments for the willing workforce.
Our Happy Hour sessions will be taking place on Wednesday 5th October (Nursery, Reception, Years 1 and 2) and Thursday 6th October (Years 3, 4, 5 and 6). They will start at 2pm and finish at 3pm. I hope many of our families can make it, but please remember the classrooms can become crowded and are not an ideal environment for babies and toddlers.
Our school Harvest Festival will take place on Thursday 6th October at 10.30am. Families from Years 1 and 2 are welcome to join us at St Mary’s Church. Our Harvest Appeal this year is for the Food Bank and so we would appreciate any donations to school or to the Church at the service.
Bug Club evening:
As you may be aware the school has purchased Bug Club to promote reading in school. This is an online tool which allows children to read books and develop their comprehension skills. We are holding an information session for families on Monday 17th October at 6pm in the school hall where you can find out more about how it works and how to support your child further at home.
Children in Early years and Key Stage one are taught to read and write using the Read Write Inc scheme. As our Nursery and Reception children are new to this scheme we thought it would be a good idea to hold a session where you can find out more, including how you can support your child at home. This will take place on Monday 17th October. The Reception class session will take place in the classroom at 3.00pm and the Nursery session will take place at 3.15pm.
Parents Evening will take place on Tuesday 11th and Wednesday 12th October. We are moving to an online booking system. Details of how to do this will be sent out on Monday 3rd October.
St Mary’s Church Harvest Festival:
This will take place on Sunday 2nd October at 9.30am. Please feel free to join the congregation in celebrating this event.
Biblical Scarecrow Hunt:
Please join in the St Mary’s Biblical Scarecrow Hunt this weekend. On Saturday 1st October this will take place from 10am – 3pm and on Sunday 2nd October from 1-3pm.
If you have any further questions, please contact school.
Yours sincerely, Miss J. Barker
