I hope you all had a good half term. We are now in the run up to Easter and so I want to share our plans for our Lent Appeal with you. On 11th March, we are going to have a non-uniform day and ask for contributions for the food bank in return. As you know this is an excellent cause which has our ongoing support, but as Lent provides us with an opportunity to reflect on how much we have in our lives, it is important to think about those who require a little help. Therefore, on 11th March, this non-uniform day will collect a valuable contribution to our local food bank. On this day, we will also be selling Cadbury’s Cream Eggs, the proceeds of which will support our global link with Tanzania. They will be sold for 50p each. The children will be told when they can buy them during the day, nearer the time.
Thank you to all the families who have already signed up for Parent Pay. This goes live on Monday 29th February and from this point all payments to school will go through this channel. Please note that if you are paying for any events run by SMASH this will still be cash and NOT through Parent Pay.
We have an excellent attendance record at Gomersal St Mary’s, and as you know it is essential that this is maintained to ensure that our pupils receive the best possible education. Our attendance policy states that should attendance fall below 90% the family will be contacted. Therefore, we will be sending letters to families when this applies inviting them into school to discuss this matter further.
I hope that you have all received an invitation to parent’s evenings on the 9th and 10th March. We encourage everyone to make an appointment as this is an essential opportunity to discuss your child’s progress and work closely with the school to ensure your child is making the most of their potential.
Many thanks for your ongoing support.
Yours sincerely, Miss J. Barker
