A group of children went to visit the local food bank in Batley. We took all the donations of food made by parents and staff with us. When we arrived we met Audrey one of the volunteers at the food bank.
Our first job was to unpack the food and put it on the shelves according to use by date. Audrey told us all about the food bank and explained about the people who will come to the food bank.
She told us that people will be really desperate and a doctor or a social worker or health visitor will give them a form to enable them to come to the food bank and get some food for their family. There were lots of people working in the food bank; they all give their time voluntarily. The food bank relies on people like us to keep enough stocks of food for people who need it.
St Mary’s School has been supporting the food bank for about a year now – we regularly take boxes of food donated by the kind teachers and parents at the School. Thank you once again for your kindness. Keep donations coming and we will keep helping the families who are struggling.
