School Updates: Friday, 10th July 2015

Dear parent/carer,

First of all can I say a huge thank you to all of you who came to support our Summer Concert last night. It was a beautiful evening and we were treated to fantastic performances of song and dance. So much hard work had clearly gone into the preparation for the event and the children did everyone proud. Seeing the whole school community come together for such a special event was very impressive. A personal thanks from myself to all the staff and children who made it so wonderful.

Next week continues to be a busy week. On Monday the children will be having a transition day with their new class teacher and support staff in their new classroom. Therefore can you please take your child to their new classroom door for registration. They should then be collected from the same classroom at the end of the day. Year 6 children will spend the day in the Blue room and so should line up next to Year 2.

We have appointed two new Educational Teaching Assistants to start in September. Mrs Rhodes in an experienced teaching assistant who will work in Year 2 and Mrs Carruthers will support children across the school.

Each class will have a teaching assistant linked to them for the morning. They are as follows:

  • Nursery: Mrs Edwards (Monday, Thursday and Friday), Miss Jackson (Tuesday and Wednesday)
  • Reception: Miss Sheard and Miss Jackson (Monday, Thursday and Friday)
  • Year 1: Mrs Newby
  • Year 2: Mrs Rhodes
  • Year 3: Mrs Colling
  • Year 4: Miss Johnson
  • Year 5: Mrs Hacking
  • Year 6: Mrs Hulley

Mrs Kennedy will be working with different groups of children across the day and will also be working as a Cover Supervisor. Mrs Sheard will continue to work as our Cover Supervisor. Miss Sheard will also be a Cover Supervisor.

There is also a disco on Monday. The disco for Reception, Year 1 and 2 will start at 3:30pm and finish at 4:30pm. The Key Stage 2 disco will start at 5pm and finish at 6pm. There is a charge of £1.00 on the door and drinks and sweets will be available to buy.

On Wednesday we are having a Leaver’s Service in Church. Families of Year 6 pupils are welcome to attend. This will be at 2pm. Then on Thursday at 6pm, the Year 6 children will perform their end of year performance, ‘Light! Camera” Action!’ for families. I’m afraid tickets are limited to 3 per family due to Health and Safety regulations. There are now available from the school office with no cost attached.

Thank you again for your ongoing support.

Yours sincerely, Miss J. Barker.
