We are getting ever closer to the end of the summer term and so school is particularly busy.
You should have received a letter providing details for the sports day next Thursday and then the week after (9th July) we have our summer concert. There will be a small fair at this event including a tombola. We would like to have a ‘summer’ themed tombola. Therefore we are going to have a summer themed non-uniform day on Friday 3rd July and in return we would like children to donate a prize for the tombola. The summer concert will start at 5.30pm with a BBQ (run by SMASH), refreshments, tombola, raffle, and an ice cream van. We look forward to welcoming you to this fantastic community event.
On the 13th July we will be having a transition day where classes will spend the day with their new class teacher. Next year the teachers will be as follows:
- Nursery: Mrs Bosah
- Reception: Mrs Keeling
- Year 1: Mrs Haigh (Mon-Thurs) Mrs Voce (Friday)
- Year 2: Mrs Woodcock
- Year 3: Miss Callow
- Year 4: Miss Joyce
- Year 5: Mrs Garforth (the first half term) Miss Nutton (from October half term)
- Year 6: Mrs Wilson
- PPA teachers: Mr Pitts and Mrs Lockwood
The allocation of support staff has still to be finalised.
Mrs Voce will be officially retiring this year although she has kindly offered to continue working at our school one day per week in Year 1. She has worked at the school for 17 years in many different roles, most recently working as SENCO. As a result, many children have benefited from her expertise and guidance. Mr Crabtree is also leaving to continue his teaching career at Whitechapel Primary School having had a very successful first year of teaching with our Year 5 pupils. Mrs Lee is leaving to take up her appointment as a Children’s and Families Minister after four years of contributing so much to our school as a class teacher. We are very grateful for all their hard work and commitment to Gomersal St Mary’s Primary School and wish them all the best for the future.
Miss Nutton is our school’s new Inclusion Manager/SENCO who will take up her permanent post after the first half term. We are very excited about her appointment as she brings with her experience and much enthusiasm to help in continuing to move our school forward. Mrs Garforth will teach the class for the first half term. She is an experienced teacher who is very much looking forward to working at our school. Both of these teachers will take the class on the transition day so the children in Year 5 will have the opportunity to meet them.
Finally can you please remember to return the slips from your child’s report envelopes to confirm you have received this document.
Many thanks for your continued support.
Yours sincerely, Miss J. Barker
