Dear Parents and Carers,
Well we have experienced our first snow of 2015, but fortunately we have managed to stay open. If the school needs to close you will be informed using the school text service, so please make sure that we have your up to date mobile numbers.
As we would expect in this weather, many children are arriving in Wellington boots, or equivalent outdoor footwear, which are ideal for getting to school but not so ideal when they are in the building. As you can imagine the floors get very wet, dirty and slippery from these, so can you please make sure that your child brings their black school shoes with them to change into once they arrive.
I’m sure you will have read our attendance policy (available to download here) which was made available to parents on the 21st November 2014. Attendance at Gomersal St Mary’s CE Primary School is very good, but can I please remind you that if your child arrives after 8.50am, they must be signed in by an adult at the school office, identifying the reason for the late arrival.
Please remember that on Friday 6th February we are supporting the British Heart Foundation ‘Wear it. Beat it.’ campaign. This campaign is raising money for life saving heart research on conditions that affect everyone, especially children. We request that each child brings a silver coin to school and wears red in recognition of this fantastic cause.
Children in years 1 to 6 have had their mentor meetings over the last two weeks to update their progress sheets. These were originally shared at the last parents evening, but have now been revisited to highlight the progress the children have made in both academic levels and attitude (where appropriate). Copies of these sheets will be coming home at the end of next week so please keep an eye out for them. If you have any questions about them please contact school.
Many thanks for your continued support.
Yours sincerely, Miss J. Barker
