Christmas Facts Advent Calendar: Day 7 – Christingles

Christingles originated from a Church in Germany where a minister gave children a candle with a red ribbon around it.

Today a Christingle is made up of different elements:

  1. an orange (to represent the world)
  2. a lit candle (to represent Jesus as the light of the world)
  3. a red ribbon (to represent the blood of Jesus)
  4. 4 sticks (to represent the four compass directions and the four seasons)
  5. fruits or sweets skewered on sticks (to represent the fruits of the earth)

Mr Pitts currently teaches Computing to the whole school along with some other subjects during teacher's PPA time. He runs this website and makes sure it all works smoothly, most of the time!
School closes for our Summer break on Tuesday, 24th July and reopens on Tuesday, 4th September. Have a lovely break!
