This year, we chose to support Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, which supports children with life shortening conditions and their families in West Yorkshire.
Our charity began more than 13 years ago as a result of the challenges faced by local mum whose son Russell needed full time care.
So far we have supported more than 100 children and their families through our hospice at home service and at our state of the art hospice, Russell House, in Huddersfield.
When a child has a life shortening condition they still need and want the same as every child- the chance to play, to communicate, to experience new things, to learn, to love and to laugh. We are here to do everything we can to make children happier and more fulfilled while they are with us, however long or short that may be. Despite the common perception, a children’s hospice is about enjoying life.
Each class has, at some point this year, held a fund raising event for the charity. These were:
- Reception: Triathlon (Running, Cycling & Bouncing)
- Year 1: Pirate Fashion Show
- Year 2: Sponsored Walk
- Year 3: Circuit
- Year 4: Circuit
- Year 5: A sponsored car wash
- Year 6: Circuit
The grand total of all this amazing effort allowed us to donate a total of £600 to the hospice, which we presented to the Hospice earlier this week. They even came in their wonderfully customised car!
