Potential Strike Action: 10th July 20141 minute read

As you will be aware from the National Media, public sector trade unions are planning to ballot their members for industrial action. We have already received notification of the intent to ballot from a number of Trades Unions and expect to receive the same from the following Trade Unions represented in schools:

  • Unison
  • GMB
  • Unite

In addition, the NUT have indicated their intention to continue their industrial action on the same date.

The indications are the result of the ballots are likely to be in favour of the strike action. If so it is expected that it will be confirmed that this will take place on 10th July 2014. I am therefore writing to alert you to the possibility of disruption to classes on these days. It is  not yet clear whether this could affect some classes in school, or lead to the school closing. I am currently assessing the situation with senior colleagues, taking advice from the local authority particularly with regards to Health and Safety issues and will write to you again as soon as the position is clear.

UPDATE: See this post for further details.
