School Garden1 minute read

The school garden area has had a makeover and is now up and ready for planting fruit and vegetables for the summer season. The garden has raised beds for each class, a grassed area for outdoor lessons and a bird bath dedicated to the memory of Jean Myers. The school is encouraging children to be involved with growing food, making compost and outdoor activities and we are working towards Eco-Schools Silver Award having already achieved the Bronze award in summer 2011.

The children have prepared the soil and are loving work in the garden, look at our photos below!

The classes have discussed what they would like to grow and decided to grow the following items;

  • Foundation Stage are growing potatoes, carrots and pumpkins.
  • Key Stage One children are growing blueberries, strawberries, plums and vegetables.
  • Key Stage Two children are growing climbing beans, peas and vegetables.
